Renting with our Vehicle Partners

Do I need to sign a rental agreement? +

Yes — you'll need to sign a rental agreement to complete your onboarding. Keep an eye on your email; we'll send the agreement directly to you.

Why do I need to rent a vehicle? +

Via partners with trusted Vehicle Rental Partners to provide clean, branded, and uniform vehicles. This helps create a seamless, professional experience for our riders. Renting a vehicle also means less wear and tear on your personal car.

How does the vehicle rental work? +

When you book a driving slot in the Via App, a rental vehicle will automatically be reserved for your driving slot. You'll pick up your vehicle at our lot, where all our fleet vehicles are stored. Using the same app you drive with, you'll unlock your rental and hit the road.

Do I need to pay for a rental upfront? +

No! The rate we advertise is the rate you take home. There's no upfront payment — the cost of the rental is already factored into your earnings.

Do I need a credit card or payment on file? +

A credit card is required to be on file, but you will not be charged for any rental rates directly from our vehicle partners.

Background Check

How does the background check work? +

All potential driver partners are required to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Criminal background check. You will need to sign a consent form and enter your Social Security number before we run the background check.

The consent form and personal information are collected through the driver portal when you apply at apply.drivewithvia.com. Checkr requires you to provide your Social Security number (SSN) to access various databases and verify your identity.

For your safety as well as our riders' safety, we run two different background checks:

  • Motor Vehicle Report
  • Criminal Background Check

Background checks are processed through a third-party consumer reporting agency, Checkr. Please keep in mind that processing your background check usually takes 1-3 days but may take longer depending on the state.

Who runs my background check? +

Background checks are generally processed through a third-party consumer reporting agency, Checkr.

If you believe any of the information contained within the background check is inaccurate or want to provide additional context, please visit Checkr's Help Center.

Checking the status of my background check +

Look out for any emails from Checkr regarding the status of your background check.

You can also monitor the status of your background check through the Checkr Candidate Portal by submitting the phone number, email, Social Security number, and date of birth you used for your background check.

Registration Capacity

Am I guaranteed to drive with Via if I complete my application? +

If the City you selected is currently at capacity for driver partners, you will be placed on a waitlist and notified via email.

You will remain on the waitlist until there is a need for more driver partners in that area.

What can I do to secure my spot? +

We recommend completing your onboarding steps at your earliest convenience to avoid delays when more registration slots become available.

Delays could result in you not being activated within the next onboarding window.
